The Mother Hips San Jose Concert reviews
Short Set List Diminishes Clapton Greatness
Clapton's playing was usual as amazing. The Mother Hips' amazingly short set list was disappointing. The set list was comprised of what I felt was a pedestrian selection of songs, considering the enormity of his catalogue. I've seen him in concert a dozen times now, and this was the first time I was disappointed. I didn't pay almost $325 a ticket to see him play for only an hour and 25 minutes. Two opening acts added to the disappointment by way of delaying the artist we came to see. In closing, Clapton and the band were great as usual, they just left us too soon and wanting more. 15 songs, including the 2 song encore. They were fine in their own right, and not the issue. Not including the 1974 Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City show when he was ill and couldn't perform, which was long ago.
